Today's topic are budget versions of PlayStation games!
Since the PlayStation 1 era Sony is re-releasing the most popular games in form of cheaper budget versions.
Those games are clearly recognizable by the different colors scheme and an additional label printed on the cover. They also have a different spine compared to the first prints.
I know many of you really love Final Fantasy IX so I thought i will use this game as an example. 😉
Those are the budget versions from the three regions I mainly concentrate on.
The NA region got the "Greatest hits" versions with a really pretty green banner...🙄
The PAL version got a silver label and are called "Platinum".
The Japanese version, called "Ultimate hits", features a silver frame on the front.
I have two opinions about the budget versions:
As a gamer, i am thankful that there were cheaper versions of games that I could afford. Especially as a kid when your money is highly limited those are offering a possibility to play some of the greatest games for little money. I wasn't really wealthy when i was younger and was happy this opened me the doors to experience some Playstation masterpieces
As a collector, those are a big eyesore to me. If I would only collect games, like some of you, i would never buy those. Those are not really collectible and their value is also way lower. I only started buying those because i am having already the black label versions of those games and I want to collect them all.
What is your opinion about the budget versions of PlayStation games?
