Today I decided to write a review that literally nobody was asking for 😂
I asked my wife If I should write this review, she said yes, so blame her for this 😅
Last week Square Enix released a free mobile game that I instantly downloaded and wanted to share my opinion about.
Chocobo GP' (according to SE pronounced Chocobo GP Dash), is a free mobile game released on 13th January for Android and IPhone devices.
I spend a longer amount of time playing it, to list for you all positive and negative aspects of this game.
Positive:
+ The game is free
+ 35 challenging levels
+ The controls are easy to understand
+ Works well on my phone (Galaxy S20)
+ A ranking function to compare times with others
+ Ghost racer to improve your own times
+ Upgrades of the vehicle
Neutral:
O Daily login bonus (why would you even do this?!)
Negative:
- Really buggy, often leads to incomprehensible game overs
- Some levels are really frustrating and the design is lazy
- The graphics are really low budget
- It looks like Chocobo reskin of the popular mobile game "Happy wheels"
- It feels like a platform to show the Chocobo GP (Switch) news masked as a game
- The announcements page contains only one link showing the release date of the Switch game
- No long time motivation
- Because of the upgrades the ranking is pretty pointless
Yes, it's a free game and I shouldn't complain about it, but I still need to ask what was the purpose of this release? The game is really the lowest budget mobile game that you wouldn't expect from a company like SE. There is literally no reason to login daily. Was there an original plan in the past to make it a gacha game?
In the second slide you can find a fail compilation of how bad this game actually is.
Have you tried Chocobo GP'?
