Distant Worlds 2022

Finally, after a long wait I had the chance to visit another Final Fantasy themed concert. Unfortunately this was also tied to an over 1200km long trip and a stay in a hotel. What are we not ready to do for our hobbies 😅

The concert was awesome and the performance of Arnie Roth, Bochumer Symphoniker and WDR Rundfunkchor Köln was superb. Some songs really caused goosebumps and showed what a different experience the music with a live orchestra is.

I was especially happy to hear Zanarkand(FFX), Cosmo Canyon(FFVII) and Fisherman's Horizon (FFVIII). The visual representation on the screen adds a lot to the experience, Even though i am not the biggest FFXIV fan, even i was really impressed by the combination of video and music for the song Heavensward!

But what would be a review from me without complaining about something 😅

The choice of songs was not fully satisfying me. Once again the amazing soundtrack from FFXIII wasn't performed at all. (But was shown in the credits...) We got FFXI and FFIII but nothing from probably, at least for me, one of the most incredible soundtracks from the series.

The ending of the concerts felt really sudden. We weren't sure if this was really it, until the light went on. It felt really anticlimactic.

Also, ending the concert with One Winged Angel was pretty disappointing to me. It also caused laughter in the audience when it was announced as an encore. It is an amazing and really well known song, but there are so many other ones that i would like to hear instead. It is complaining at a really high level but in my opinion i am not going to those concerts to hear all the same songs all over again. Yes, Xe and his controversial opinions again...

Overall it was another amazing experience that was worth all the time and energy! Especially since i didn't had to go alone and was accompanied by @finalfanjessi that was ready to put it up with me 😂

P.S. Of course chaos couldn't be missing also 😂
