This week was Final Fantasy III 32nd anniversary. Perfect time to make a post about this highly unappreciated game!
For unknown reasons Square Enix skipped this game on multiple occasions while releasing literally every other one. It wasn't released for the PlayStation, Game Boy Advance or the Wonderswan Color.
For the first time the game was released outside of Japan in the form of a 3D remake for the NDS and later on also for Sony PSP and mobile (Android/iOS). I am not really a fan of the style of the remake and prefer the classic 2D look. Recently also a 2D remastered version in form of Pixel Remastered was released on Steam and mobile.
The story revolves around four orphaned youths drawn to a crystal of light. The crystal grants them some of its power, and instructs them to go forth and restore balance to the world. The four Warriors of Light who begin as Onion Knights in the original release, are named Luneth, Arc, Refia and Ingus in the 3D remake.
If you want to get the original release for your collection, you will not have any problems at all. Compared to retro games from the EU and NA region those are still really cheap. 20-30€ is a normal price to get it in a really good condition.
