FFVII The First Soldier

A few weeks ago a new mobile game in the FFVII universe was released. I know many (including me) don't like mobile games, but i always give every game a fair chance. So here is my review of the game after playing few days since the release.

Story:

It's not really surprising that there is no story in the game. The only story is the intro video and some notes here and there. This game supposed to be the prequel to the FFVII games.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is pretty solid. It's fun jumping into the battles . The shooting and aiming are executed pretty nicely. I really like that you can play it with a controller. Unfortunately the game is lagging really often. In a game that relies on precise shooting this is a no-go.

Content:

There are two modes: Ranked and Standard that you can play solo or as a team.

I am not a battle royale specialist but i don't see any long term motivation.

The biggest issues is the amount of microtransactions in the game. They are getting rubbed in your face at any occasion.

Graphics:

The graphics are pretty good considering it is a mobile game. The graphics reminds me of Crisis Core and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Music:

The music is excellent! Alone the start screen music gave me goosebumps! They did a fantastic job on this and it really don't left much to complain about.

Verdict:

The gameplay is exciting and if you are battle royale fan, you will probably have a ton of fun with it.

For me, the matches are too long for a quick game and i don't see any long term motivation to keep playing.

It is not surprising but with all those skins and loot boxes, this game is just milking the FFVII name and trying to sell you the skin of the characters from the game.

How would Tifa say? "No surprises there!"
