Of course, even on my holidays, I'm always keeping an eye out for Final Fantasy items and potential additions to my collection. I wanted to share some of the stores I visited and the items I found on the shelves. For those who didn’t know, I spent 4 weeks in Malaysia and visited malls and shops in cities like Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan.
Mission World is a store located in Malaysia's second-largest shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur. I was really surprised by what I found here! In addition to a great selection of games for all platforms, I stumbled upon something in the corner of the store that made my Final Fantasy collector's heart race! They had the ASIA-exclusive collector’s edition of Stranger of Paradise and also the collector’s edition of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which I never expected to see on a store shelf. But what was even more special was the Hero Edition of FFVII Crisis Core Reunion, which was released in the SEA region as a bundle. The Japanese version had the collector's box and figure separately, while here the package comes in an extra sleeve! I also found some Final Fantasy TCG and FFVII Museum Cards, which of course, I had to buy.
Game Exceed is a smaller store on the top level of a shopping mall in Kuantan, which I always check out when looking for Asian physical releases. I’ve found some great bargains there in the past. What I really like is that all the Final Fantasy games are displayed together, making it easy for me to see if I'm missing any variations for my collection. I appreciate that they offer way more Final Fantasy games than I typically find in German “gaming” stores.
Last but not least, I visited a Uniqlo store where I found a Final Fantasy XVI "Moongazing" shirt from the Kenshi Yonezu collection, and I ended up taking two home with me.
Do you also look for items to add to your collection while on holidays, or do you prefer to take a break from your hobby during that time?
As always, a quick disclaimer: I am not affiliated with any of these stores. I’m just sharing my personal experience. 😉
