Okay. I usually use my own pictures for all the Saturday posts, but today an official marketing picture have to do, because I obviously don't own the item I want to talk about.
A topic that was probably keeping many Final Fantasy fans busy in the last days, was the announcement and preorder of the Final Fantasy XVI collector's edition..
On the 13th of December, the preorders started and many were eagerly awaiting the unlocking in the store to be able to buy one and to don't miss out. 5 days later, the collector's edition is still available for preorder. So what happened?!
One of the things that Square Enix probably did better than with the Endwalker box, is the bigger stock of the CE. After the previous CE was sold out within minutes, they knew they had to produce more of them.
But probably a bigger impact on a still available stock, is having the price of the CE. Whooping 350€ (plus shipping 🤦) are being asked for the content of the "Collectors Edition" (250€ more than the deluxe edition). This price just for the additional figure and a pinset. No art book, soundtracks or anything that is standard content of every CE... No surprise, many people started to riot on social media about the price and the content.
While I am also thinking the CE is way overpriced, it's also annoying me that they call it "Collector's Edition", but it's just a soft bundle. This game is PS5 exclusive, so there is no reason not to put the game inside the box! And since they only include the normal version of the game, I canceled my Amazon preorder, because I don't need two Standard Editions of the game.. Soft bundles suck balls! Don't call it a collectors edition if you are not able to put the game inside!
