After a month away from home, I’m finally sharing a quick recap of my gaming year in 2024—though a bit later than planned! Before diving into my first game of the new year, I wanted to reflect on the titles I finished last year and highlight the hits (and misses) along the way.
Top 3 Favorites
My absolute favorites of 2024 were:
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: No surprise here—it was amazing.
- Stellar Blade: This game fully delivered on its promise, offering a fantastic and challenging experience.
- Metaphor: ReFantazio: Although it was quite long, it perfectly scratched the JRPG itch I had by year’s end.
Biggest Disappointments
Not every game lived up to the hype, though:
- Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP: The remastered edition didn’t capture the same fun I remembered from the original, though its short length was a small mercy.
- Needy Girl Overdose: Despite trying a few endings, I found it dull and stopped playing early on.
With 17 games completed, I didn’t quite reach my goal of two games per month, but I’m carrying that goal into 2025. 😊
A big highlight for me was getting a Steam Deck! It let me play several digital-only games that aren’t in the photo of my collection, so here’s the full list of what I finished last year:
January: Death’s Door, Alan Wake Remastered, AI: The Somnium Files
February: Fatal Twelve
March: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Loopers
April: Death Mark, Needy Girl Overdose, Ethernights, Root Letter
May: -
June: Raging Loop
July: Stellar Blade
August: PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, Planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet
September: -
October: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, Corpse Factory
November: -
December: Metaphor: ReFantazio
