Dice de Chocobo, also known as Chocobo Land: A Game of Dice, is an interesting entry in the series of chocobo games. This game is actually a remake of one that was originally released on the PS1 back in 1999 as part of the Chocobo Collection.
In Dice de Chocobo, the gameplay is somewhat similar to Monopoly or a Japanese game called Itadaki Street, for those who are familiar with it. The main objective is to collect crystals and use them to purchase and place monsters on the board, making certain spaces more expensive for other players to visit. The first player who gathers enough crystals and reaches the starting point again emerges as the winner. Throughout the game, you assume the role of a Chocobo, who is on a quest to conquer the board game world and bring back both friends and himself to the real world.
It's worth noting that this game was never officially released in English, but thanks to dedicated fans, there are fan translations available if you're interested in playing it 😉. Additionally, for collectors, it's a reasonably priced game, usually available for around 20€.
Considering the game's charm and unique gameplay, I wonder if Dice de Chocobo could be one day rereleased in English for the Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4.
