One of the most iconic entries in the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy VI, holds a special place for many fans. Today, I want to highlight my favorite version: the Game Boy Advance edition, which I’ve kept as a sealed copy.
The GBA version stands out for its updated translation, offering a script that’s more faithful to the original Japanese. It also introduces additional content, such as new dungeons, espers, and several graphical and quality-of-life improvements. Interestingly, this extra content is missing from the recently released Pixel Remaster version, making the GBA edition unique in its offerings.
When it comes to collectors’ value, this version has become quite expensive. A complete, used copy is priced at around €200, while sealed editions are being offered for as much as €600. Prices like these make me grateful I bought three GBA Final Fantasy games as a bundle over a decade ago for just €100!
Which version of Final Fantasy VI is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
For those not familiar, this game was once released as Final Fantasy III on the SNES in North America—a bit of trivia that often surprises newer fans! 😅
