While I've previously showcased various versions of the game, I haven’t had the chance to discuss other related stuff from my collection. Today I want to share some insights about the official Japanese guidebooks published by Digibook.
The Ehrgeiz guidebooks were released in two volumes, each focusing on different aspects of the game. The first volume, titled "Competitive Strategy Guide," is dedicated to the arcade mode and provides an in-depth look at the fighting mechanics. It covers the combos and strategies for each character, making it an essential resource for players looking to improve their skills.
The second volume, "Explorer's Strategy Guide," takes a different approach by exploring the really popular Quest Mode. It details the various dungeon levels, items, and survival tips. This volume also includes developer interviews and concept artwork, offering fans a glimpse behind the scenes.
I must say, the art style of Ehrgeiz really captures that nostalgic 90s anime vibe, which adds to its charm! The best thing about those books? They're really cheap if you buy them directly in Japan. I got mine along WITH THE GAME for just 3,500 yen, which is around 20 euros.
