Naoki Hamaguchi shared insights on potential changes for the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy’s final installment in an exclusive interview with Daily Star. While expressing satisfaction with the reception of Rebirth, he highlighted two areas for improvement based on player feedback.
Hamaguchi stated that the game's structure and balance were well-received and would not require significant adjustments.
"I think that what we did with Rebirth, the structure of the game, the balance of everything in it, was very good and it was received very well by the fans, so I don't think there's any need for major changes there really."
However, he acknowledged concerns regarding the volume of minigames and their reception by some players.
“So I don't think we failed at all in that decision of having such a broad amount of content there. It was what was needed for the game, but certainly looking forward to the third game and to other games, if you asked me "would I do the same number of minigames" I don't think I would.”
Hamaguchi explained that future installments might feature a reduced number of minigames to strike a better balance for players.
“We’ll work out how maybe we can cut it down to maybe a bit more manageable size for the group of players who quite rightly said that maybe there was too much there for them.”
He also addressed criticism regarding the difficulty of obtaining the Platinum Trophy in Rebirth, which some players found overly challenging.
"I think there is one other thing actually, which I can say was a mistake on my part, something that I've already apologized for - and I definitely will not do again, which is how difficult I made it to get the Platinum Trophy. So rest assured I have learned from that and in future I will not be making Platinum Trophies that difficult."
