Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the iconic slap fight between Tifa and Scarlet will appear in the trilogy's final installment. The confirmation was made during an interview with the Japanese outlet Denfamicogamer.
The scene, originally featured in the 1997 release of Final Fantasy VII, occurs during a confrontation between Tifa and Scarlet atop the Junon cannon. It is remembered for its absurd humor and has become a fan-favorite moment.
Hamaguchi revealed that the decision to retain the slap fight was influenced by numerous fan requests.
"Many have asked to leave it in the game (laughs). In response, I’d like to say we’ll make something really great, so please look forward to it!"
While Hamaguchi acknowledged the fans' enthusiasm, he did not specify whether the scene would retain its original mini-game format or be adapted into a cutscene. This leaves some curiosity about how the iconic moment will be modernized in the remake.
