Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is a standalone game for Nintendo DS and is taking place one year after the happenings of Final Fantasy XII.
We are following Vaan that is now a sky pirate and also owns his own ship. He is being accompanied by Penelo that is having the role of a navigator. While searching for the Cache of Glabados they are meeting returning character from FFXII but also some new ones.
The gameplay is not an RPG but is a mix of real time strategy and Final Fantasy Tactics. The game is fully playable with a stylus with which you are giving commands to your units. Summons are also playing a big role. At the release FFXII: RW featured the largest amount of summons.
Fun fact: The Japanese version is easier than the western release that was rebalanced to be more difficult. Not something we see really often as it usually the other way around.
If you are a fan of strategy games you should definitely check it out even if you are not a fan of FFXII.
