In the recent voting, 40% of you expressed an interest in seeing a post about Final Fantasy VIII today. This was a truly positive surprise, given how divisive this game is within the Final Fantasy community. Instead of presenting you with another common PS1 version, I have something special in store: one of my favorite releases, the Japanese PC version. And who better to showcase this version than mini Mr. Whatever?!
One immediately noticeable difference is the form factor, which is completely distinct compared to the large box releases we received in Europe. At first glance, the packaging could be mistaken for the Final Fantasy VIII limited soundtrack, which also comes in a flat but high, foldable box. Upon unfolding it, you are greeted with a booklet, six discs, and an inlay featuring the well-known artworks of Squall, Rinoa, and Seifer.
The box contains one installation disc, four game discs, and an additional soundtrack CD. The tracks included are as follows:
- The Man With The Machine Gun
- Mods De Chocobo (Featuring N's - Telecaster)
- Love Grows
- The Oath
- Shuffle Or Boogie
- Ami
Interestingly, this version is not really expensive and can already be found for around 5000¥, which is approximately 35€. Personally, I only paid 20€ for it, which I consider a bargain. 😊
