I think i made a post about almost every Final Fantasy game in the main series, but one. Before we got the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, Square already published another MMORPG for PS2, PC and later on the Xbox 360.
On the PS2 the game required an additional network adapter and a hard drive to be installed. This was already a big challenge for many people and reason not to even try this game. The game was semi-popular and had many ups and down. In year 2008 Square reported over 500k active subscriptions. In the Year 2006 the Xbox 360 version was the sixth most played game on Xbox Live.
I personally played FFXI only for a while. After starting the game the admins of the server put me in the prison and years later i still don't know why 😅 The gameplay was feeling a lil bit wooden to me and since then i never found my way back.
The game is pretty fun to collect because there are so many different starter packs and add-ons. Many are also really cheap to get in brand-new condition. If you like challenges you can collect all versions for all available systems.
Have you played Final Fantasy XI?
Fun fact: FFXI, with the releases for PS2 and PC became the first cross-platform MMORPG ever created .
