Pixel Remaster Physical Release

I noticed we didn't talk about this topic at all, so I am curious what is your opinion. Maybe some of you cooled down by now, or maybe got even more salty. We will find out 😅

After looooong time of speculations, one month ago, Square Enix finally announced the release of the Pixel Remaster games for PlayStation and Switch. So far, so good. Together with this announcement, also the preorders for the physical edition of the game collection went live. And this is where the trouble started. While in Europe it was early morning, in the NA for example was middle of the night. This actually wouldn't be a problem if the games wouldn't be sold out before some even had the chance to found out about this release..

You might at least think that the collectors editions being sold out fast is nothing unusual? Actually, the version that was sold out first was the normal edition of the collection because Square Enix decided to release the standard version of the collection in highly limited quantities... No one knows why!

In the end, some were forced to buy the collector's edition of the collection for whooping 280€ to get a copy for switch or PlayStation. After the games were sold out of course, eBay way flooded with offers that are selling the preorders for hundreds of euros. Square Enix couldn't make the scalpers a bigger gift than this release.

In my opinion, Square Enix should have release two versions of the physical standard edition, one limited for the collectors (maybe make it numbered) and a normal version that is available to anyone and also in every retail store..

What is your opinion about the physical release of the Pixel Remaster?
