Hyperdevotion Noire is a spin-off of the Hyperdimension Neptunia. Different to the main series, this game is a tactical role-playing game and features Noire as the main character.
The graphical style features chibi designs of the original characters that are being moved on a grid like map.
All of the characters are representing things from the gaming world. For example the main character Noire is representing Playstation and Vert is representing Xbox. Also other characters are inspired by other games. Ein Al is a female Tidus from Final Fantasy X, Ryuka is a reference to the Yakuza Series and Lid is a parody of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid.
The gameplay is turn-based, and map elevation has an effect on characters' abilities and mobility. The field maps feature various gimmicks, including rail cars, flaming pits, logs, artillery batteries, laser beams and moving platforms. If you are familiar with the Disgaea games you will feel at home here.
