PS1 - Ehrgeiz - JP - Square Millenium Collection

I am pleased to present to you one of my favorite games from my collection: a sealed copy of the Millennium Collection of EHRGEIZ - God Bless the Ring.

Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring is a 3D fighting game developed by DreamFactory and published by Square in 1998. It was initially released in arcades and later on the PlayStation console. Ehrgeiz was known for its unique gameplay mechanics, combining traditional fighting game elements with 3D movement and interactive environments. It also featured a "Quest Mode" that offered a single-player dungeon-crawling experience.

I remember how mind-blowing it was to play this game as a kid, completely unaware of what to expect, and being introduced to the characters from Final Fantasy VII for the very first time. (It's not something that happens easily nowadays with all the trailers and spoilers available.) While Ehrgeiz may not be the best beat 'em up ever made, I had a lot of fun playing it. The game features iconic characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, and unlockable characters such as Vincent, Yuffie, and even Django, who bears a striking resemblance to RED XIII.

The Square Millennium Collection also includes a diorama depicting two different costumes of Vincent. Moreover, a travel watch featuring the Ehrgeiz logo is included.

I searched for a while and was willing to pay a little extra for a sealed version of this game. Some might consider the price high, but even used copies in good condition are being sold for over 100€.

Have you ever played EHRGEIZ before? What is your opinion of the game?

Wouldn't it be cool to have a modern version of this game?
