While Final Fantasy VI is often being posted in the form of the SNES or GBA releases, I thought I will show one of the less popular ones: It's the Japanese PlayStation release!
While the first games were released in form of compilations in the west, they received a separate Playstation release in Japan. (except FFIII because it doesn't exist until the 3D remake in 2006 🙄). FFVI was also released as a standalone in the PAL region, but the Japanese and European version couldn't look more different.
The Japanese case is standard CD size and features the famous artwork of Terra on a magitek armor by Yoshitaka Amano. But the highlight is one of the best Final Fantasy disc artworks! The 3d render of Kefka looks amazing! One of my favorite discs!
Like many used Japanese games, it's not really hard or expensive to find. It's nice to see that the Japanese market is barely affected by the stupid retro game speculation bubble present in EU and NA...
