PS1 - Gran Turismo

On our journey through all different genres, today i want to talk about the racing genre and this hidden gem.

Gran Turismo is with 10,85 million copies the best-selling Playstation 1 game in history. The game received widespread acclaim from critics and consumers, with praise for its graphics, soundtrack, tight controls and number of cars. It is also the first game designed to fully support the PlayStation's DualShock controller.

Gran Turismo features 140 cars, 11 race tracks and two modes: the Arcade mode and the Gran Turismo mode.

In the arcade mode, you can freely choose the courses and vehicles. Winning races unlocks additional cars and courses.

The gran turismo mode requires the player to earn different levels of driver's licenses in order to participate in events, and earn credits (money), trophies and prize cars by winning race championships. With the credits you can buy used&new cars and also parts and tuning.

I have many awesome memories playing this game with my dad. While he tuned and adjusted all the cars for specific race types, i was driving and trying to beat all races to get money and more cars.

Alone cuz of those memories, no other racing game series will ever beat GT for me.

Unfortunately, i am not a fan of the newest entries that removed the main reason why i played them: a proper GT mode. I couldn't care less about pure online racing or esports and that's why i also didn't buy GT Sports and GT7...

Are you a fan of racing games and Gran Turismo?
