In the past, I've made posts about games related to almost all of the biggest animes like Dragon Ball, Bleach, One Piece, or Pokémon, but one was missing: Naruto. It was time to change that! This is also another contribution to #fightinggamefriday hosted by @king_lizzard.
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2, a fighting game developed by CyberConnect2, hit the Japanese gaming scene in 2004. This installment, nestled within the Naruto franchise, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the original Ultimate Ninja game and was released exclusively for PlayStation 2.
Much like its forerunner, the game adopts a 2D fighting format, encapsulating the storyline from the Destruction of the Hidden Leaf Arc to the Search for Tsunade arc of the manga. Notably, it pioneers a controllable overworld for the main narrative, incorporating iconic locales from the manga and anime. Building on the success of the earlier version, this installment boasts a beefed-up roster and revitalized features for returning characters.
After its initial release, the game reached a global audience in 2007. Following its success, the next chapter, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3, graced gaming screens in late 2005.
