Resident Evil: Revelations is a survival horror video game that unfolds after the events of Resident Evil 4. Players assume the roles of Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they uncover a bioterrorist organization's plot to infect the Earth's oceans with a deadly virus. The game emphasizes survival, exploration, and evasion, offering limited resources and challenging encounters.
Players navigate the game from a third-person perspective, controlling Jill Valentine. Limited resources, including ammunition and health items, heighten the tension. The game centers on solving puzzles, defeating enemies, and achieving specific objectives. Upgrading firearms, employing melee attacks, and using a scanning device called Genesis add strategic elements. Additionally, the game features a multiplayer mode, Raid Mode, where players can collaborate to tackle modified scenarios from the main campaign.
Interestingly, this game was initially released on the Nintendo 3DS, which isn't the usual platform for this type of games. The game's success led to the release of a high-definition version for various platforms. It achieved commercial success and paved the way for a sequel released in 2015. Despite some criticisms, "Revelations" remains a significant entry in the Resident Evil series, blending classic horror elements with modern gameplay mechanics. The sequel, Revelations 2, is one of my favorite games in the Resident Evil series. I will make a post about it in the future. 😉
