PS4 - Celeste

What I actually wanted to buy cheap during a recent Amazon sale turned out to be, in the end, a gift from my wife 😅 To instantly appreciate this gesture, I paused the game I'm currently playing and squeezed it right into my gaming schedule. And because the game isn't thaaaat long but fun, here's alsomy post 😊

Celeste was developed by Maddy Makes Games and is a platformer available on all modern platforms. It follows Madeline's journey to climb Celeste Mountain, featuring unique and sometimes challenging gameplay mechanics and an emotionally resonant narrative.

Madeline's quest for self-discovery unfolds on Celeste Mountain, encountering different characters like Granny, Theo, and Badeline. The narrative explores themes of anxiety and depression, with climactic moments and a heartfelt resolution at the summit.

What makes Celeste stand out is not only its compelling storyline but also its tight controls in the realm of 2D platformers. The game consists of eight chapters, each presenting unique challenges and collectibles for players to explore. For those seeking a more accessible experience, Celeste offers an Assist Mode, while the "Farewell" expansion introduces new gameplay elements to keep things fresh.

While I really enjoyed the game, I have to give an extra shoutout to the publisher of this version, @Fangamercom, for not delivering just an empty case with a disc (looking at you, almost every other publisher! 😤) but they also included a nice, creative 32-page manual with fun content (like the Strawberry Cake recipe i included in this post) and also a 23x30 cm folded movie-style poster! This is why I love buying physical editions!

If you enjoy fun and challenging platformers and also want to experience an interesting story, I highly recommend it, especially considering the low price it's available for.
