Before I post another Visual Novel, I thought I will throw a JRPG into the mix of my Thursday posts.
As a kid I was a big fan of collecting Pokémon, but in the end Digimon's story was way more interesting to me, mostly because it felt like the more mature anime. I tried many different game adaptations and, beside maybe Digimon World for PS1, none of them really satisfied the itch I had for a good Digimon experience. After a really long time, I gave Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth a chance and was instantly hooked!
The game is the fifth installment in the Digimon Story series. You can choose between a female and male character that is investigating a cyberspace called Eden and trying to solve mysteries related to the real world. While exploring the cyberspace you can catch, level up and digivolve your Digimons.
The battles are turned based and are successfully capturing the feeling of fights from the anime. The music is really catchy and I couldn't get it out of my head for days, maybe even weeks. In the complete edition of the game, you can collect over 300 different Digimons that is motivating to you to continue even after completion of the story.
Both games are available for PS4, Vita, Switch and PC. The double pack is currently even on sale on steam for just 9,99€.
This game and also the sequel are definitely must-plays for all Digimon fans! I am really hoping we will get more games from this series in the future! 🤞
