After many awesome games it was time to also mention a controversial and in my opinion the biggest disappointment in the history of Final Fantasy. Yes, this is how much i dislike what they did to the name Dissidia!
The game is a console port of the 2015 Japanese arcade game Dissidia Final Fantasy. And that's exactly the issue! Because it is an arcade port and Square Enix released it with Esport in mind, that game is lacking literally everything that was making the PSP games great!
The fighting mechanics are not even the issue and the good graphics are a step into the right direction. It's nice to see some characters in all the glorious HD. But that's also about it. It’s missing all the RPG elements and a great story that the previous games were offering. Instead of playing a story you participate in some pointless fights to collect crystals and unlock story sequences... The story mode is an embarrassment!
Of course there had to be DLC characters and a freaking season pass! They even planned the roster to be 50 characters in total. Way to milk it isn't it?!
The game failed so badly that they released a free to play version to try to animate people to play it. You can buy the retail version almost everywhere for less than 10€ or even just 5€. This says it all about the success of the game...
Because of my high expectation and endless disappointment this game, for me, is the worst Final Fantasy of all time!
I am hoping one day we will get a proper sequel to the awesome games that were Dissidia and Dissidia 012. Take the older games, make them HD, add new characters and levels and everyone is happy!
