Rip... And... Tear!
On my never-ending journey to beat my backlog, for this month i choose those two games. They were sitting on the pile of shame since forever and i decided for a change of pace and genre and squeezed one of the most hectic and brutal FPS games on the market.
Doom: The high octane action is really on point. Jump, shoot, glory kill, repeat 😅 Simple story and design of levels that are fitting the gameplay. The campaign with around 12-13 hours is not getting boring or repetitive. Only the forced arena fights that are also present in the second game are something I wasn't a big fan of. Instead of walking freely you are always trapped inside a space until you kill all enemies. It's implemented well but sometimes the still respawning enemies only have the purpose to drag the levels..
Doom Eternal: I heard a lot of good things about it and how it further improves the first game. Do I agree? Hmmm.. No. The game is still good and especially the high-speed action with higher framerate on the ps5 was a lot of fun. There are few things that I didn't like: Why the f do I connect to a server every time playing a freaking offline campaign? Why are all the skins and this stupid XP system necessary? The starting screen doesn't feel like Doom but Fortnite or Overwatch. This is a big L compared to the first game and was really annoying me. In my opinion the second game is just unnecessarily overloaded and got really repetitive towards the end...
Overall i still enjoyed playing both games and am glad to finally cross them off my list. They are definitely great to get some aggressions out of your system 😅
