Today, I doubled my hashtag participation with #31DaysInTheCrypt hosted by @_lachrymal & @king_lizzard, but also #dystopianhorrorinstyle hosted by @dystopiangamerberry and @maydie.in.style with today's theme: 'A game that spooked you but it wasn't even a classic horror game!' And for this occasion, I chose probably my favorite zombie game, 'Dying Light.' Set in the fictional city of Harran during a viral outbreak, players assume the role of Kyle Crane, an undercover operative tasked with retrieving vital data from the rogue figure, Kadir 'Rais' Suleiman. The story revolves around a conflict between aiding survivors and completing the mission. Played from a first-person perspective, Dying Light emphasizes parkour mechanics for traversal. Players scavenge supplies, craft weapons, and engage in combat against aggressive zombies. The dynamic day-night cycle alters gameplay intensity, while multiplayer modes offer cooperative challenges and asymmetrical play. Why don't I consider it a classic horror game? Because the game is actually all about fast-paced fights and parkour that do not fit into my definition of 'horror'. And yeah, 'Oooh Zombies! So scary!' Uhm, no. Zombies are not scary, especially not in this game. Unless... It's night... Because nights in this game are where the s*it is getting real! The zombies become furious and much more dangerous, and you never know when they can get you! A few times those ******* caught me by surprise and made me curse at the TV. I think that's enough to qualify for today's theme 😂. By the way, 'Dying Light' is also one of my favorite co-op games! You can play it with up to four people and do the whole story together. I can 100% recommend it, as these games are way more fun with other people! I still need to play 'Dying Light 2,' but as free time is pretty rare nowadays, I'll give new IPs a chance for now. One day I will catch up 😅. Are you familiar with the 'Dying Light' series?
