PS4 - Fatal Twelve

On my journey to finish two games per month, I recently completed Fatal Twelve, a pretty interesting Japanese visual novel released in 2018. Developed by aiueo Kompany and localized by Sekai Project, this game unveils the intriguing tale of Shishimai Rinka, who undergoes a surreal resurrection after a fatal explosion. The plot unfolds within Divine Selection, a 12-week ritual to reverse deaths, where choices wield significant influence.

The narrative takes players on an emotional rollercoaster as Rinka grapples with challenges, encounters the mysterious goddess Parca, and unravels the shocking truth of a friend's sacrifice. What sets it apart is that it doesn't follow the usual romance-adventure clichés, opting for a more straightforward adventure style.

The game prompts players to delve into themes of courage and justice, allowing them to shape Rinka's destiny within the death game. With a storyline that transcends the ordinary, Fatal Twelve explores the truths behind deaths, personal regrets, and the lengths participants are willing to go for survival.

Available for PC, PS4, and Switch, Fatal Twelve may not be the pinnacle of visual novels as I anticipated. Despite my expectations, the game remains interesting, with a slightly complicated and underwhelming ending. For those intrigued, the trailer provides a better glimpse into the game's dynamics.
