PS4 - The House in Fata Morgana

After what felt like at least 100 hours (including all the side content), I can finally write a post about one of the visual novels I was most excited about from my VN collection. It was also the most expensive one, as the physical PS4 release was only published by Limited Run Games.

The House in Fata Morgana, released in 2012 in Japan and globally in 2016, is available on various platforms, including PC, Vita, and Switch.

The story is about an amnesiac spirit and a maid exploring the mysterious past of a mansion. The narrative takes place in different time periods, each revealing captivating stories of love, jealousy, revenge, and reincarnation. The game's themes connect with players, creating a deep and emotionally charged atmosphere.

The House in Fata Morgana has received critical acclaim, with a Metacritic score of 96/100. Its compelling storyline also earned it a spot as a runner-up for Hardcore Gamer's Best Story of 2016 award. In November 2023, the developer proudly announced the sale of 100,000 copies on Steam.

Whether you're a fan of visual novels or intrigued by stories that transcend time, The House in Fata Morgana offers an unforgettable experience. Although the side content was unnecessarily lengthy and boring at times (this might be too harsh), it is definitely one of the best and most captivating visual novels I have played so far, and I give it a 100% Xe recommendation!
