With all the never-ending Rebirth Hype, I thought it would be fitting to make a post about the "definitive" edition of the first entry of the trilogy, which is the Remake.
A little more than a year after the initial release, Square Enix launched a PS5 version called Intergrade. Intergrade contains the upgraded version of the Remake but also includes the Yuffie DLC called INTERmission. If you already own the PS4 version of the Remake, you can upgrade it to the PS5 version for free, but you will need to purchase the DLC separately as it is not included.
With the release of INTERmission, I had a reason to replay the Remake for the 5th time (I think) before diving into the new content of the DLC. To no surprise, the game runs and looks better, featuring improved visuals and shorter load times. Intergrade adds the ability to use traditional ATB-based controls while in the game's normal difficulty mode, a photo mode, and better overall performance in framerate and resolution.
The INTERmission DLC, while not overly long, was a ton of fun and fleshes out the character of Yuffie further. I already liked her in the original game, but the DLC made me really love her playful character. The tag attacks with Sonon were a nice addition and set the fundamentals for the Synergy attacks featured in Rebirth. I also spent a lot of time playing the Fort Condor mini-game, which was plenty of fun!
Last but not least, INTERmission came with this beautiful steelbook that is one of my favorites! This artwork just works great here! A real eye candy!
Fun fact: For some time, INTERgrade was sold out in many stores and was being scalped for higher prices, lol. The Japanese version is multilanguage, and the "new price version" can even be pre-ordered for less than 40€.
