More than 10 years ago, I began seriously collecting Final Fantasy games and merchandise. One of the items I had been missing, and had only played digitally on my PSP, was Crisis Core. How do you manage to find games at a lower cost? Naturally, you check eBay for games in new and sealed condition, all for a reasonable price.
One auction particularly caught my attention and was about to end. This auction displayed the generic black label cover of the game. I won the auction and felt ecstatic about striking such a great deal for a game in new and sealed condition.
A few days later, the game arrived. However, upon opening the box, I was in for a shock! It turned out to be the platinum version of the game, which I obviously wasn't looking for. After reaching out to the seller and expressing my dissatisfaction with the game, I received the following response: "What's the difference?" 😱 As most of you will know, the black label and first editions are the versions that all collectors desire, not the cheaper and far more common platinum/ultimate hits/greatest hits releases.
The lesson I took away from this story is: Never place bids or make purchases on eBay (or other auction websites) without the store's own pictures of the item!
Who else has had a similar experience and can empathize with me? 😅
