With last week's 15th-anniversary celebrations, it's time to share another post about probably one of my favorite Final Fantasy games and definitely my favorite PSP game! Yes, Duodecim is also a great game and an upgrade, but I spent way more time playing the first one. It was a fantastic companion during my high school years and made many train rides much more bearable.
Dissidia is a fighting game spinoff also containing some RPG elements. You can upgrade your characters, use spells, and equip new weapons and accessories. In the story mode, you learn about the conflict between Cosmos and Chaos. The fights are connected with dungeons designed like a board where you move your character to reach the exit. Along the way, you collect items and defeat enemies. In the arcade mode, you can choose a fighter from the first 10 games (both good and evil) and complete some predefined missions.
I also have to mention how much i like this collector's edition! It's small, relatively cheap, and still contains a lot of cool stuff. It includes a soundtrack, artbook, 2 lithographs, a mini-guide, and, of course, the game itself. I highly recommend it! You can find this collector's edition for around 50€ in good condition or even 100€ brand new.
Please, Square Enix, release a proper successor to this game! Better graphics, more characters, and take my money!
