It's hard to believe that Final Fantasy Type-0 is already 13 years old. Despite the mixed reception it received, this game holds a special place in my heart, and I love sharing posts about it.
For many fans, Type-0 was polarizing. Some dropped it after just a few hours, while others—like me—absolutely loved it after seeing it through to the end. It’s not your typical Final Fantasy title and doesn’t try to be. Instead, it’s an action RPG where you control the fourteen members of Class Zero. The gameplay feels similar to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and even includes strategic elements in the open world.
What many people forget, or may not even realize, is that Type-0 originally launched on the PSP and was so massive it needed two UMDs to fit everything. The PS4 remaster might make it easy to overlook its handheld origins, but its roots shine through in the gameplay and storytelling.
The story left a lasting impression on me, solidifying its place in my personal Top 5 Final Fantasy games. Few endings have burned themselves into my memory the way this one has—it’s unforgettable.
You might notice that the copy in my photo is the Korean version of the game. Why? Why not! I collect Final Fantasy games from different regions, and having this version felt like a unique addition. If I could, I’d collect copies from every region.
