WARNING: Unpopular opinion post ahead!
Today i also received some of the highly anticipated Uniqlo shirts that were released in celebration of the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy.
Good things first. The shirts were shipped pretty quickly. The quality of the shirts is, considering the price, actually pretty good. The print of the logos is okay-ish and time will tell how many washing cycles they will survive. And yes, i bought them just for wearing purposes.
Now all the things that are grinding my gears. I really hate it that the collectors box containing all shirts was only available in Asia. I am really sure no one in other regions wanted to buy one... The playing cards that were included in Asia when you bought two shirts, were not available in Germany at all! Like, what the hell?!
The designs... i don't even know where to start.. Some of the shirts have the laziest and most terrible design i ever saw. I talked to many of you about those and that some of them would be better made by a print shop down the street. They massacred one of my favorite games with what cannot be more lazy.. Yes, i am talking about the FFVIII shirt. It looks like a picture that could also go on a mug or mouse pad. Final Fantasy V is another example where i don't know what they were thinking? For an anniversary i expect more than this!
Some designs were sold out within minutes. FFI, FFXII and FFXIII were gone in Germany only 30 minutes after the launch. Two possibilities: Those games are more popular than even SE was expecting or they didn't print that many because they thought not many want them..
In the end, i didn't buy shirts that i most liked, but the one i thought are the least terrible. I know tastes are different, but for me the designs and the whole collaboration is just a big disappointment.
