Because these two items arrived together and complement each other, I decided to cover both in a single post. We’re talking about different versions of the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth theme song, “No Promises to Keep.”
The CD includes four versions of the song: the standard version known from the game and trailers, a band version featuring Nobuo Uematsu's conTIKI, an instrumental version, and a band version without vocals. For those wondering, this soundtrack is an SA-CD Hybrid, meaning it can be played on both regular CD players and Super Audio CD players. The latter provides access to an additional data layer that offers higher-quality audio, which may appeal to audiophiles.
According to Square Enix’s announcement, every preorder of the CD was supposed to include a Loveless Staff Pass sticker. However, many people, myself included, didn’t receive this preorder bonus from the Square Enix EU Store. Consider me surprised.
As for the vinyl, there isn’t much more to add—it contains the same four versions of the song as the CD release. While the CD, priced at €23.99, is still available in the NA store, it’s sold out in the EU. The vinyl, which was priced at €34.99, is completely sold out everywhere. Who knew this release would be so popular?
