Don’t we all need a little more kawaii in our lives?

Square Enix has launched a new project called #SQkawaii, blending cute visuals with reimagined Final Fantasy music. As part of the project, they’ve released a new album along with themed merchandise, all based around the concept of “kawaii future bass” — think sparkling synths and bouncy beats.

The album, titled #SQkawaii Sounds - FINAL FANTASY, features 20 classic tracks from across the series, newly arranged by artists like Yuki Hirose and Takafumi Imamura. It includes well-known songs like Zanarkand, Blinded By Light, Battle at the Big Bridge, and Somnus, all with a fresh, upbeat twist.

The cover art was newly illustrated by Square Enix character designer Yasuhisa Izumisawa, showing Final Fantasy heroines and mascot characters gathered in a colorful arcade setting. The same design appears on a new line of merch, including T-shirts, tote bags, keychains, and an acrylic display panel.

I had to grab the acrylic panel for my collection. It’s about 20cm x 14cm and comes with a stainless steel leg for display. Really hoping Square Enix releases a desk pad with this artwork too — it would be perfect for my setup. Make it happen, @SquareEnix and @SquareEnix_Music!

The album is available now for €24.99 in the EU Store and $29.99 in the NA Store. Sadly, the acrylic panel ($29.99) is only sold in the NA Store. The EU Store only has the album — no merch... weird.
