Square Enix has launched a collaboration with Swiss luxury watchmaker Franck Muller, introducing a collection of Final Fantasy XVI-themed watches. The collection includes four designs inspired by the game’s Eikons—Ifrit, Phoenix, and Bahamut—along with a special Final Battle edition that features all three.
Each watch is crafted in limited quantities, with only 16 units produced for each of the Ifrit, Phoenix, and Bahamut models, each priced at ¥2,860,000. The Final Battle edition is a one-of-a-kind release priced at ¥30,800,000.
Alongside these timepieces, new artwork showcasing characters Clive, Joshua, and Dion has been unveiled. These illustrations are offered as complementary items to purchasers of the watches.
Naoki Yoshida commented on the collaboration:
Founded by FRANCK MULLER, the legendary watchmaker’s eponymous brand is known the world round for combining technical craftsmanship with artistry to provide customers with what can only be called masterpieces—masterpieces crafted individually by hand, rather than mass produced.
When we first began work on this collaboration, I was slightly concerned about whether or not we would be able to realize each other’s vision—especially since the request from FRANCK MULLER was simply that we let our imaginations run wild. My impression of the brand had always been one of strict policy and unwavering design standards, so naturally my assumption was that we would have to work within these restrictions. This couldn’t have been further from the truth. What Mr. Muller instead presented us with was a challenge to ourselves—one both sobering and exciting.
Now, the world can experience a new fantasy—one woven from the creative minds of FRANCK MULLER and FINAL FANTASY XVI. I hope you enjoy these rare, yet truly remarkable timepieces impeccably designed to brighten your life and forever guide you on your journeys.
Ifrit
Limited to 16 pieces each.
Priced at ¥2,860,000 (approximately €18,188 or $19,242).
This watch is not merely an ornament to adorn your wrist; it is a tool and a partner that shares your destiny. This timepiece will serve as a compass for those who find it, helping them stay on course even in the harshest of conditions. As a “guiding marker” leading you to your destination, this watch will become an indispensable companion on your journey through life.
Comment from character designer Kazuya Takahashi
“While brainstorming ideas for this watch, I quickly realized that the Vanguard’s elongated face was perfect for expressing myself artistically, allowing me the freedom to incorporate a bold design.
Ultimately, I settled on a combination of the protagonist Clive’s Eikon Ifrit—with his quintessential flames and unmistakable horns—and the “Oath”—the symbol of Clive’s rebel organization, depicting two daggers piercing a single crystal. To further bring out Clive’s character, beneath these, I added the hilt of his sword, Invictus.”
Phoenix
Limited to 16 pieces each.
Priced at ¥2,860,000 (approximately €18,188 or $19,242).
This watch is not just a tool. It serves as a “protective charm” to safeguard your loved ones, possessing the power to respond to your wishes. In times of crisis, when you pray to protect those you care about, this watch will stand by your side, enveloping you and your loved ones in a protective embrace of time.
Comment from character designer Kazuya Takahashi
“The symbol emblazoned on the watch face is representative of an egg of the firebird Phoenix, and one of the traditional emblems of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria—Joshua’s home. The brilliant red used in the strap not only signifies this proud nation, but also its crown prince and his majestic Eikon.”
Bahamut
Limited to 16 pieces each.
Priced at ¥2,860,000 (approximately €18,188 or $19,242).
This watch does more than just tell time. It is a “weapon” designed to harness and amplify your inner strength, responding to your deepest desires. Like the roar of Bahamut, it channels unprecedented energy throughout your being, magnifying the power hidden within your heart. It will enhance your willpower and become a true partner in overcoming fate.
Comment from character designer Kazuya Takahashi
“I started with the official heraldic charge for Dion’s Holy Knights Dragoon—the outspread wings of the dreadwyrm Bahamut. Placing a detailed profile of the Eikon atop this emblem gives it the appearance that Bahamut is preparing for flight.
Above the wings, I added the silhouette of a “wyvern tail”—a flower which plays a central role in Dion’s story. And while a basic color scheme of white was chosen to best represent the Dominant’s character, accents of green and gold were added as nods to both his in-game war standard and his final transformation in the battle over the Crystalline Dominion respectively.”

Final Battle
Limited to 1 piece.
Priced at ¥30,800,000 (approximately €195,871 or $207,230).
This special watch features Ifrit, Phoenix, and Bahamut, portrayed in a trinity specifically for this timepiece. The powerful flames of Ifrit vividly color the flow of time; Phoenix’s mystery symbolizes hope and rebirth, while Bahamut’s majestic dragon form showcases invincible power. The world of FINAL FANTASY XVI is magnificently encapsulated in this design.
At the heart of the “VANGUARD TOURBILLON FINAL FANTASY XVI ‘The Final Battle'” lies a tourbillon that governs time, blending precision technology with art. Originally developed to counteract the effects of gravity, the tourbillon is a device that regulates time.
Its intricate and delicate movement, embodying the rhythm of the cosmos, possesses an artistic beauty akin to experiencing the universe’s rhythm. With three symbols converging at the heart of timeless art, this watch transcends its mere function of telling time. Instead, it draws out the wearer’s inner strength and becomes a partner in the grand journey of life.
Comment from character designer Kazuya Takahashi
“White has long been a signature for the FINAL FANTASY series, so it was without question that for this unique model, I would use it as a starting point.
Once a foundation had been established, I next combined three of the game’s central figures—Ifrit (representing fire), the Phoenix (representing protection and rebirth), and Bahamut (representing strength), using as inspiration a memorable scene in which Bahamut carries his two companions off to the epic final battle.
Adjacent to the tourbillon, which I envisioned as the moon over Valisthea, I added the bright red custrel star Metia before finally incorporating fiery crimson accents to complete the design.”
