Final Fantasy XVI has achieved lifetime sales of 3.5 million units. This figure, provided by Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu during a recent financial results briefing, was reported by Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda. The game had an impressive debut, selling 3 million units within just few days of its PlayStation 5 release in June 2023. However, sales growth has since slowed, with only an additional 0.5 million units sold after its PC release on September 17, 2024.
This total includes both the PlayStation 5 and PC versions of the game. For comparison, Final Fantasy XV sold 5 million copies on day one and eventually reached 10 million units worldwide, highlighting a slower sales trajectory for the latest installment in the franchise.

Update 22.03.2025:
A correction has been issued regarding the reported sales figures of Final Fantasy XVI. The initial claim that Square Enix Holdings president Takashi Kiryu provided these numbers during the company's financial results briefing was incorrect. Instead, the figures were independent estimates made by Toyo Securities. The original report mistakenly attributed this information to Kiryu, and the error has now been acknowledged and corrected.
