Story: Yes, Jack was a real meme generator in the trailers and demos. But even further you progress in the story even more serious and mysterious it's getting. The game really managed to keep me going, to finally find out what the resolution of the story is. I am personally really satisfied what SE did with the story! Still, the storytelling is sometimes confusing and split in too many media (notes, dialogues via menu, cutscenes)
Gameplay: By far the biggest strength of the game. After you learned the core mechanics, the game starts to be a lot of fun. Leveling, looting and unlocking of new skills is really motivating. Difficulty is definitely not Souls-like until game+. This is also where i had the most fun and loved the challenge! Coop mode with 2 other players is awesome!
Content: 30 Hours for the story, 60 hours for the platinum trophy (no missables). 28 unique classes. 16 + 24 missions playable in 4 difficulty levels. Most of the levels are inspired by other main entry FF games! A lot of additional challenge in endgame.
Graphics: The biggest weakness that is probably turning off most of the people after playing the demo. It doesn't look good on a PS5 and looks like crap on a PS4. At first, it really reminded me of DMC for PS2. There are massive frame drops on levels with many particles. Faces of the townspeople are looking really creepy. But, after a while I didn't notice the bad graphics anymore.
Music: One of the highlights! I loved the sound in every single level. Like the levels, also the music is inspired by other games and pushed the nostalgia buttons really hard. Hearing FFXIII and FFVII style music made me smile a lot! Can't wait for the soundtrack to be finally released!
Verdict: After playing the demos and knowing what to expect, i really enjoyed this game. The story is not as meme-esque as SE made it look with the trailers. I loved every minute of the journey for the platinum trophy. If you can overlook the disappointing graphics you will learn to love the gameplay and the story.
