It's Spooktober again and I wanted to support the hashtag #31DaysInTheCrypt hosted by my friends @_lachrymal and @king_lizzard , so this month I will be posting a horror-themed game on my off-topic days.
While not being a super scary game, Rain Code features some horror-ish elements (because it doesn't always have to be super realistic). The game includes murder, blood, gore, and a god of death, all represented in a cartoonish way. That's #31DaysInTheCrypt material, in my opinion.
"Master Detective Archives: Rain Code" offers a captivating blend of investigation, word battles and humor. The game's clever writing and memorable cast of characters ensure an excellently paced detective mystery. While it may not be without its quirks, Rain Code stands out in the mystery genre, combining zany storytelling with expressive characters for an immersive experience.
Despite some performance limitations, Rain Code's strong and stylish presentation compensates, creating a satisfying journey for players. Its well-constructed mysteries and engaging world make it a must-play for fans of Danganronpa and those with a penchant for detective work. If you can overlook the occasional cliché, Rain Code offers a phenomenal murder mystery visual novel experience, rivaling other releases in the genre.
In recent times, I rarely played a game that wasn't overstaying its welcome and wasn't making me wish for it to be over. The gameplay elements offer variety till the end, always introducing something new. The story is interesting from the beginning to the end and definitely made me crave a second entry!
If you like murder mystery stories, this is a must-play title and undoubtedly a game that went under the radar for many. Spike Chunsoft just rarely disappoints! It's now one of my personal highlights!
