Switch - Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

Finally, after two months of playing, I have completed the game. It was a long and challenging journey, but I persevered. However, there were certain aspects that made the experience a struggle. Let me outline the aspects I disliked and those I appreciated.

Firstly, opening chests for loot proved to be an incredibly tedious task. Additionally, the game lacked an option for automatic optimization of equipment, which was disappointing.

Furthermore, the levels in the game were excessively large, resulting in tiresome and monotonous walking that disrupted the pace of the story. Moreover, there was an overwhelming number of fetch and monster hunt quests, many of which were even integrated into the main storyline. Being assigned basic tasks, such as locating water, became increasingly frustrating. It felt like a waste of time to spend a mere 30 seconds on something that could have easily been incorporated into a cutscene.

The English voice acting in the game was wooden and lacked emotion. The frequent pauses between sentences further detracted from the dialogue and hindered character attachment.

The fighting system relied heavily on repetitive cooldown mechanics, with minimal progression throughout the gameplay. Additionally, the game's dependence on AI for healing, except for a single skill, proved to be a poor choice.

Furthermore, the camera controls were erratic, particularly when facing large or flying enemies, causing frustration and hindering gameplay.

On a positive note, the music in the game was exceptional and undoubtedly its greatest strength.

As for the story, it had a promising start but suffered from a slow pace and failed to maintain my interest due to the vast areas and repetitive quests. The conclusion at the end was rather disappointing, considering the significant build-up leading up to it. I had way higher expectations...

Now, I have a question for the fans of the Xenoblade Chronicles series:

Does the series improve, especially considering the criticisms I have highlighted? Which entry is considered the best?

Additionally, I would like to know your opinions on the first entry in the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy.
