PS4 - YU-NO A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World

Updated: May 29, 2023

Almost two months and over 80 gameplay hours later, i finally finished my next visual novel.

I can start with telling you that this is probably one of the weirdest games i played so far. The story, setting, characters and mechanics are a really adventurous mix. Also, I have to mention that my wife bought this game for me. 😅

YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World (what a title 😂) is a VN and remake of an eroge game released for PC and Sega Saturn. What is eroge? Oh boy... Eroge is a Japanese genre of erotic video games. But compared to the first release for NEC PC98 all the sexual content was removed from the later releases for Sega Saturn, PC and also the remake for PS4. What is left is an ecchi heavy adventure game.

The main character discovers a time-traveling device left by his father and travels to parallel worlds to uncover the truth about his mother's death and his father's research, encountering various girls and a conspiracy involving a sinister organization.

The game is having a fascinating story that caught my interest and kept me engaged to continue. I am a sucker for time traveling stories, so I am really glad to play this game, even though I am still thinking the "erotic" aspect is unnecessary and in many situations misplaced and killing the pace of storytelling. It's funny sometimes, but I would prefer a more serious approach.

If you are interested in the story but are not a fan of VNs, you can watch an anime that was released at the time of the release of the remake. Although it's slightly different, it still transports the basic idea of the game.

I don't even know If I should ask, what do you think about this game? 🤣
